Tart/Wax Melt Making Instructions
- Heat wax to 175° F (do NOT exceed 200° F as this may discolor and/or burn your wax). You can use microwave, double boiler method, old crock pot, or Presto kettle.
- Weigh out enough wax to fill the number of clamshells that you are pouring (each clamshell holds approximately 3 oz. of wax).
- Add color (1 dye chip will color approx. 1 lb. of wax to a medium shade.) (The dye chip should dissolve in the wax.)
- The wax will hold 10-12% fragrance load (3 oz. of wax = .30 oz. of fragrance oil; 15 oz. of wax = 1.5 oz. of fragrance) (You can add a little more fragrance for a longer lasting tart.)
- Stir gently for 2 minutes.
- Allow wax to cool down to 120° F. The wax may be slushy in appearance, but this pouring temp will allow your tarts to have a smoother surface.
- Stir again & pour into clamshell.
- Allow to solidify at room temp.
- When wax cools and hardens, you will be able to close the lid.
- Allow to cure for 24 - 48 hours before using.
- Soy wax creates a natural frosted look. To reduce this, apply heat to top of finished candles with a hair dryer.
